J & J Security will also have a booth at Deltona’s Halloween Spooktacular and will be handing out candy and safety tips.
Halloween Safety Tips
-
Feed your kids a filling meal before they go trick or treating. They’ll be less likely to sneak candy before they bring it home for you to check.
-
CHECK THE CANDY! Make sure the candy is sealed in factory packaging and does not contain ingredients your child is allergic to. Throw out homemade treats.
-
Check the FDLE’s website (http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/) to locate sexual offenders in your area. Make sure your children stay away from these houses.
-
Make sure your child’s costume is safe. It should be fireproof or treated with fire retardant, and eye holes should be large enough to enable good peripheral vision.
-
It’s best to have two or more adults supervising your group of trick or treaters.
-
If your children are going trick or treating without you (in a supervised group), make sure you know their route.
-
If your child is attending an event at their school, church, etc. make sure you know the address. If your child is attending a party at a friend’s house, make sure that you’ve met the parents and have their address and phone number.
-
It’s usually dark when trick or treaters are making their rounds. It’s a good idea to dress your child up in a brightly colored costume and for them to wear glow in the dark necklaces. Also, make sure your kids know how to cross a street properly.
-
Teach your children to scream and run to a safe place if they are asked by a stranger to enter their home or vehicle.
-
Attend J&J Security’s Annual Halloween Bash. It will be a fun, safe place to take your kids this Halloween.
